My poor yellow-tailed acei!

Yesterday I put in 5 yellow tail acei in my 55g. They are all doing great except for last night while I was sleeping my favorite acei got wedged inbetween a rock and the wall. His one side is severely scratched up now. When I first freed him he just laid there for about 10 minutes. But now he is swimming around the bottom of the tank awkwardly and slowly. I really hope he makes it. He was my favorite because he was the darkest purple out of all of my acei

Can you put him in a separate tank until he heals? He may get picked on :(

Some salt would probably help, too - give him some extra minerals.

No I don't have a spare tank unfortunately The best I could do is a 5 gallon bucket. Would that be a good or bad idea?

If you can put some coral sand in it, and a filter, it would work fine

Ok well an update on my acei he is still swimming very slowly and awkwardly around the bottom of the tank and he refuses to eat. The other fish do not seem to be picking on him (he is the 2nd biggest fish in the tank). I do have a spare filter I could throw on a bucket. I will see if he improves over night. If not I will put him in a 5g bucket. How long would I have to keep him in there?

Keep him in the bucket until he's doing better. Just treat it like another tank. Make sure you rearrange the main tank before putting him back in with the others tho!
