| | Makeshift aquarium stand?
I am planning on ordering an aquarium custom built to the dimensions of one of my cabinets. My request was for a 41.5 " x 23.5" base and a 20" height, which makes the tank about 85 gallons. It will fill the whole surface area of this stand with maybe a fraction of an inch of room on each side, and the ends will be right over the main supporting planks of this cabinet. Can anyone tell me if this is sufficient, or if this is an accident waiting to happen?
The cabinet IS all wood, and it is supported by three vertical 3/4 inch wood planks that run the width of the 24" inch top. Since glass aquariums are only supported at the edges, the plans I made would make the sides directly over the two end planks. It is quite well reinforced and has a 1.25 inch thick top. Pictures are attached.
