Looky what I found (nice gravel)

Some ya'll prop finally think I'm nuts now but I REALLY had a superst hard time here when I first set up my tank to find FINE grain DARK colored gravel. So I went with the "natural river rock mix" in my 55g tank that most you seen picture of already. While that looks nice & natural it wasn't quite "it"

Here's what I found today shopping; LOVE that dark brown mix and I'm debating HARD now if I should re-do my 55g with new gravel now (this dark bag will go into the new 30g).

Here's a comparison so you see what I mean "old" gravel on the left new found stuff on the right

I'm thinking I'd leave that 55g alone. It's finally settled in. And for some darker gravel that you can't see a lot of anyhow due to the explosive plant growth, no not me. I'd count your blessings on the 55g and go forth and prosper on the 30g.

There's spots between the plants I can see gravel AND there's one spot free of plants where the Cory's eat that's at least 3x3" I see gravel there - PAH!

I'm playing with the thought cause I know it would look awesome BUT I wouldn't even have the time (few hrs in one consecutive row) to pull this off anytime soon.

How deep is the substrate in the 55g? You could always just put a layer of the dark stuff on top rather than swapping it all out. That darker gravel does look really nice though.

WOW!! Love that dark gravel. Redoing the 55g is your call of course, it's all about personal preference but I can't wait to see this in the 30g. Great find!!

4" in the back and uhm about 2.5" in front. And I don't wanna do that cause when you gravel vac you mix it all up nicely and then a few weeks later the "dark layer" is vanished.

Lisa giving it my best push this weekend:
1) Gravel found today
2) Plants arrive around Fri
3) New filter either Fri/Sat
4) Hoping to get it done & seeded this weekend
But as always pic's will follow for the 30g
