A red devil will eat a whole range of food, small fish, earthworms (NOT from your garden though), snails and insects.
They do not do well in planted aquariums as they tend to eat the plants, if you dont have hardy plants, then offering lettuce, boiled peas and other vegetables MUST be fed into it's diet.
You would also not want to feed too many live food as it is an opportunity feeder which means it does not get a ready supply in the wild.
Black Piranha can be kept alone, but absolutely need a 100g+ as they get to 16"
