Lid Problem

I have an Aqueon 55 g and I bought two 24in Versa-Top to fit the tank. Unfortunately, the lids aren't wide enough...length is fine but there is a 1/8 in gap in the front

make the gap in the back and put your power cords and filter stuff back there

I would not worry too much about the lid unless you have fish that are known jumpers.
As mentioned you can always put the lid on so the back is where the gap is. If this is not possible then, fine mesh or a acrylic cut to size will be enough to cover the gap.

That's the problem, I plan on have a Tire Track/Zig Zag eel, so I need a fairly secure lid....any hints on how to make it eel proof?

Did the lid come with a plastic extender? if not you can order one and even if you already have one you can get another and have them on both front and back just make sure its made for your glass thickness

I have found that the two manufacturers (all-glass and perfecto) of glass tops produce slightly different sizes. Were it me, I would buy a set from the other manufacturer and see if that fits better. If it does, return the first set. If not, return the second.

If you have trouble getting a lid to fit you can always get some form of acrylic sheeting or lexan and cut it to the right size for your tank. That's what I have been doing because I don't care to mess around with pre-cut glass(or otherwise) tops.

You will need aqueon glass tops to fit the aqueon tank. They make thiers a wierd size so only thier brand will fit the tank opening. The plastic strip comes with the tops.

^^ Yes! That is the problem, I bought the Aqueon tops for my tank( Marineland) and they didn't fit. I'm going to try the Perfecto, since they're the same brand as the stock hoods. For some reason Aqueon 55's have a wider surface area. Tigris, you can find the tops you need at Petco.
