I need help to understand correctly.

I don’t get the filter turn over thing.
So if you have a filter rated for 20 gallons that means it has a 5 gallon turn over rate?
(whats the turn over mean )( I don’t get any of it.)

the turnover rate means how much water is filtered per hour, if the turn over rate is 5 gallons, it means the 20 gallons of water in the tank is filtered 5 times every hour. So a filter that is rated 100 gph has a turnover rate of 10 in a 10 gallon tank, 5 in a 20 gallon tank 1 in a 100 gallon tank etc

hi, i'm no expert but I think the turnover is the amount of water that will filter/pass through it over a given length of time... prob an hour, depending on how they measured it.

so if your filter is 5 gall per hour it should filter all the water in your 20 gal tank in 4 hours

Im not saying the water will be clean after 4 hours but it should of gone through about once

I hope i'm correct, if not i'm sure somebody else will correct me

Almost :), 1 turn over rate means the whole tank capacity is filtered in an hour, 2 turnover rate the whole tank capacity is filtered twice in an hour, so if a 20 gallon tank with a turnover rate of 5, the whole tanks capacity is filtered 5 times in 1 hour

Ok lets make this easier to understand....Our magnum 350 is rated at 350 gallons per hour, so with it put on a lets say 50 gallon tank you take the 350gph of the filter and divide the gallon size of the tank and that gives you the turn over.In this case it would be 350 divided by 50 witch means the filter turns the 50 gallon tank over 7 times per hour...So this filter can fill up seven 50 gallon tanks in one hours time.
