They should replace your heater (although I would be nervous about the dependability of these heaters). This is really a shame as Marineland used to be a top notch company but they are having issues now with quality in their heater line.
If you still have your defective heater look for the lot# on the neck of the heater in white letters. The affected lot# is 01H31. This really has me nervous as I have 2 of the Stealth Pro heaters and another one on order. The older style Stealth (without the red/green on/off indicator light) is not affected. It's just the new Pro series. |
There is an ML # 90453 and at the very top part a small number that is 01l31 it doesn't say "lot number" by it though. I am really mad about it because it is so new but I am not so freaked as to not use the product again. At least, I wasn't. If enough people have had this issue, that isn't good. I think there is room for error in any product. I did purchase another of the same kind because I have heard so many wonderful things about them. I thought it was just a fluke and I was the unlucky one to get that faulty one. I certainly hope that is the case and won't repeat this problem.
I do intend to call Marine Land though last time it was a lesson in frustration. I was calling to find out what the K rating was in the stock lights. They acted like I was speaking a foreign language and then sent me to voice mail of someone who was on vacation for a few weeks. I left my name, and number and they never returned my call.
I have heard that other heaters when they break down tend to not shut off and basically cook the fish. This one is supposed to shut off when the temp hits a certain amount. Safety feature... Might now be worth much if the stupid thing explodes instead.
