Help - White Fuzzy Algae on fish

Thanks for all the replies but lately we have been short on money and cannot afford a seperate tank with a filter etc, for this size Pleco but the good news is it seems to be healing, still a massive hole but seems to be improving.. More of that white algae type stuff is on it but you can clearly see the skin underneath has almost completely rejoined. If it does completely heal up we are certain it will leave a massive scar. But as I have said before thank you all for your replies it is much appreciated.

BTW: Even though I didn't go through with the answers you have all given me, I am very pleased to hear that this doesn't seem to be contagious or critically deadly.

In the meanwhile, keep its water quality as high as possible through large water changes and frequent attention to filter maintenance.

If it seems unlikely you will be able to upgrade its tank, consider re-homing this fellow.
