Hello- Beginner to fish, wants tips

Hmmm i seem drawn to Fancy Guppies, Killifish, and cichlids...
oh and the peacock fish was a Cichlid
apparently the cichlids are aggressive though and need a "50 Gallon Tank Minimum"

Apistos could work but would need to be species only tank. Some other fish that would work are Sparkling Gourami, celestial pearl danios,threadfin rainbows, lemon tetras, blood fin tetras, white cloud minnows(gold) or Scarlet Badis but do research the care and foods that fish you are interested in require ,..along with reading up on,,, nitrogen cycle in aquariums.

Yea i will deffinatly read up on the fish before i get one.

I am thinking about putting off getting a tank till this summer when i will have more time to do the fishless cycles and such. I am gone so much of the day that i am thinking it would be smarter just to wait...

I really wouldn't put any Rainbow in any tank under 48", or the Threadfins at less than 30". They need a lot of swimming space. A 20 long is 30", so you can consider that...

Twenty gal. long tank would always be better than ten gal.

20 gallons would be my first choice if my room wasn't 11' by 12 foot with a bed, desk, dresser and such... i simply have no room

Cant you talk the family into getting involved in your new hobby. Maybe put a tank in the living room for everyone to enjoy! Aquariums do add a nice spice of life to any room!

Being young as well, and trying that... it 95% of the time doesn't work.

A 10G is great to start with, or maybe a 20H. A 20H is only 4" longer and taller, and 2" deeper. Do you have a spot that you want to put the tank? Measure that area if you want and we can help.

Yea i tried, neither want one, nor is there really a place to put it. and i think that my mom thinks if i put the tank in my room, that it makes sure that it is ME that takes care of it and cleans it.

Well my place, that it would just SOOOO fit in is 1' foot wide 1' foot deep and 2' foot long. but i am also looking for a better table and i can get rid of my desk and replace it with that.

the one small petstore we have here, have these amazing little (like 1" )Angelfish i am getting when i obtain a new fish tank. I want one SOOOOO bad!
