Having problems please help!!!

I have a 60 gallon hexagon tank that has been operating for 5 weeks, I added 4 platys and 2 tetras, and recently added two angel fish, my problem is I have this brown looking algae on the sides of the tank and green algae all over the bottom, which the bottom is gravel and some sand as I tried to do a beach with my spongebob characters, so please let me know what I am doing wrong. I lost two of my platys about 2 weeks ago.

I will add pics to let you see for yourself, any and all advice will be appreciated.

Algae growth is normal in a cycling tank.
Can you post your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings? How many hrs a day are the light on?

its not bad to put little characters like that in the tank?
i have these plastic FMA chars but i was scared the plastic/paint would have negative effects on the tank

not totally sure on the plastic characters because i used to have a plastic t rex in my danio tank and it was fine but it may depend on the type of plastic. the best thing you can do before adding anything into your tank is research. that goes for anything from plastic action figures to fish.

water params are a must here as well as a lighting schedule that you use for more accurate answers on causes on the alge problem. in the mean time cut down the time your lights are on by half or so and dont add any chems (yet). if you dont have a test kit take some water to a fish store since most of them will test for you for free. as far as the chars go i have no idea. well from pictures it looks like a brown diatom breakout which is normal. For this you have many options. 1, get an algae eater. For a 60 gal, you have a lot of options, however although you have a 60 gal, it looks like its a tall tank so i would avoid algae eaters like pleco's since they grow very large. Otos eat brown diatoms diligently, but after they clean your tank, you will need to start feeding algae wafers. Also, otos need to be kept in groups 6 is best 3 is a minimum. 2. Let it go, after you tank cycles, most often than not the diatoms die naturally fall off and vanish. However this method you will have to deal with brown stuff until it dies. 3. algae scrapper. Get a mg scrapper or one of those stick kinds and scrub. Takes more effort and you will need to remove your ornaments, rocks etc to clean, can be a huge pain, but after cycling, it should vanish.

All fo the above requires taht you tank is balanced though, and that this algae breakout is a result of cycling. If you tank is unbalanced, sucha s too much light, not enough co2, etc. The brown diatoms will ebr eplaced with much more bother soem green algae, such as green spot algae, which almost nothing will eat, except plecos and even they will only eat it when starving or get something like BBA which only SAEs and some kinds of flag fish will bother with. Like money and twistermon said before,you will need a test kit or get your water tested both now and after cycling to get an idea of where your balance is at to really fix this problem long term.
