Good way to clean lights??

Yo. :) So what's a good way to clean these stubborn calcium deposits off of the plastic on the lights to my aquarium? Hot water and a cloth just are not cutting it, and I've read that cleaning these well can brighten up the whole tank. THANKS.

I've found white vinegar and warm water to be the best.
malt (brown) vinegar works too, you just have to use more elbow grease with brown.

i use standard aquarium wipes, they are citric acid based, but safe for the tank. they are mostly for algae but i find they clean the calcium off my light fixtures and the entire hood of my tank really well.

Yep, that's what I use and find it to be very effective.

Melafix does the trick too actually We use a combination of melafix and water at the fish store to wipe down our tanks.

I saw this mentioned somewhere on another thread (maybe it was you). An excellent tip which I'll definitely by trying when next cleaning the glass :) What ratio of melafix/water do you use?

yeah someone else had brought it up in a thread and I agreed that it was an awesome idea. About a year or so one of my customers had told me about it and so we started ordering bottles of it. We would mix it in a spray bottle, spray the tanks down and then squeegee them dry. Worked like a charm. We had incredibly hard water too so lots of deposits to remove. I was excited to see someone write a post about it, I had forgotten all about the melafix method. I don't know of a specific ratio though. If we had a good supply on hand I probably did more like 50/50 but if we ran low I probably used a lot less. Just try different ratios and see what works best for you. At home i'm a cheapskate so I just use water, an algea scrubber and a little elbow grease
