Found a 30 gallon and stand for free!!!!

Today My wife and I went to a yard sale to get a freezer for $25 they also had a 39 gallon bow tank ( which I don't like) but I noticed they had another 30 gallon tank and stand well they said that tank wasn't for sale but I could have it for FREE!! LoL they said they have been trying to give it away to their friends but none of them wanted it. I have to clean it out but its still in good condition. So all I need is a filter and a light for it I have a glass top for it already LoL. I love finding things for free. I have no clue what I will put in it but will find something LoL. any suggestion on the lighting and the filter for that size tank ?

Dont forget a Heater! And Substrate! Dont want your fish to get cold, go in shock and die! Other than that, awesome find! It's funny how people easily ditch their hobbies... and sad. But hey! Free tank! Woot!

LOL actually did forget about the heater oops yeah will get one of those too but still can't believe they were just giving it away lol and I have substrates already

Can't beat that price! Funny though...you'd think since it was a garage sale and somebody was interested, they'd say something like, "well it isn't really for sale, but I can let you have it for $20...and it still would have been a bargin!

Now, even though it's in good shape, after you clean it up, you might want to clean all the corners well and add a bead of silicone (for safe measure...ounce of prevention theory).

As for a hood/light, I was just pricing them for my old 29g and best I found on-line was $40 plus shipping (didn't find at the LFS, but I got side tracked and dragged home the 60g!
Since you have glass cover for the top, you could get a fairly inexpensive florescent light and using 1x4" and some thin plywood or Masonite, make a DIY cover? (just a thought)

Yeah you would think thats what most ppl would say but nope was free. It was just laying in the yard a little bit dirty. So this weekend will clean it up really good and I had thought about resealing it just to make sure it didnt leak. I thought buying a light fixture and making a hood. Think I could do it cheaper then buying one
