Feeding concern

I have cherry barbs, platys and corys in my 30 gallon aquarium. I feed once a day: dry flakes, dried blood worms and shrimp pellets. It seems that all of the fish only want the shrimp pellets. I understood platys and barbs were top or middle feeders. I am thinking that later, as the flakes and bloodworms sink to the bottom, somebody must be eating them or I would have more debris that I do. I only put in 5 or 6 shrimp pellets because they were originally only for the corys since they sink. Does anyone see this as a problem?

I have Dwarf Rainbows, who don't eat off the bottom, but they grab (fast) whatever is in their sight, and tend to grab sinking shrimp pellets, and than swim around holding them in their mouth, waiting to have them soften up. I've heard to soak shrimp pellets a bit, before putting them in the tank, so I've started to do that, and I sometimes use my hand to place them at the bottom.

I would alternate feeding flakes, pellets, bloodworms. No need to feed all three at once. It would also be a good idea to soak the bloodworms in some tank water for about 10 mins or so before feeding them so they reconstitute.

Agree. I would also offer more variety. Three or four different sinking foods, alternated from day to day (one different brand each day) works well. Same for upper food, like flake or pellet. Some fish will eat certain foods over others. Good brands are Omega One and Hikari, and both make several floating and sinking foods.
