Elephant nose in 38?

Hi can I have a elephant nose in my 38 gallon. wikipedia said that it at least should have a 44 and 38 isn't to far apart but I think I is stretchin it at 38. Just wanted to know if I thought right or not.

I wouldn't really put an elephant nose in a 38 gallon. =/ I've been told 55 gallons or more, for more than one reason. Elephant noses do get fairly large (around 8 inches) and I've heard that to get full enjoyment out of them it wouldn't hurt to put them in groups, so even more space is needed for that. Also, a finer substrate such as sand is recommended, because it's easier on their "trunks". Elephant noses are rather difficult to take care of, so I would give them more space than less. They are some of my favorite fish though, and it's said that they are one of the smartest! I used to have one myself. =)

When i was new in the hobby i kept one in a 29 gallon....it did not end well...really beautiful fish though, shy shy shy. Mine only really came out when all the lights were out. I had to feed him at night.
