Do you plan way ahead?

I was sitting here looking at my 60 gallon tank thinking... When my Angels die, I would like to try some hatchet fish. Not that I am wishing any ill will on the Angels and I am sure they will be here for a long time yet but... I just like some other types of fish and would like to someday have them.

I have a 25 gallon that has only 5 male Guppies that are getting up in age and 2 Black Skirt Tetra that also came from a nasty dirty tank so I would suspect their life would be shorter as well. I am starting to think "what would I want in that tank?"

Are Hatchet fish too much in a 25 gallon? I would like at least 10. The only other fish in there are 5 Oto's and then I have a few assassins as well.

You're not the only one who does that. My extreme planning ahead comes in the forms of what tanks I will have when I move into a house/town house. I plan to keep my current tanks with the same species for a while as I thoroughly love all the species I have now. But I have a short list of species I would one day like to keep and possible future tanks planned out for them.

I actually thought about what I would do with my 55 gal when my Goldfish die, and I came to the conclusion that there is nothing else I would want to keep other than Goldfish in a 55 gal.

I plan ahead aswell. I've wrote down the types of fish I want to keep on paper. I review it constantly.

that's not called planning ahead that's called obsession :P lol :)
just kidding I do the same but I have a book and you can see I wrote at a lot of pages the tank number they are gona be in the gallons and the number of fish im gona have then number of females and males
so it looks like this some times 2-90-12(8-4 )(tank number 2 its 90 gallon and there will be 12 fish 8 females 4 males) then at the end I put a page of witch page it is the name of the fish and all the info(like 2-90-12(8-4) in tank order hehe

i have a few notebooks of fish related stuff, store adresses/numbers, fellow hobbyists, fish species, some of my ideas and plans, drawings and whatever i feel like
