How many fish and what would be good for a community tank. Should I buy 2 of every species I decide on. I lov e Cory catfish. They are so cute.

I've moved your post out of the other thread to start its own thread, since it is not directly related to the other.

To your question, corys are shoaling fish that absolutely must be in a group. The more the better, but in a 30g you could easily have 7-12. They are very social and need each other. If you want just one species, a minimum of five is recommended, or more as I said. If you decide on two or more species, i would aim for no less than three of each species. Some prefer their own species to socialize with, others seem to socialize with any cory regardless of species, so 3 will ensure they have some of their own.

As for other fish, what are your water parameters, meaning general hardness (GH) and pH? Some fish have preferences, some are more adaptable. You can ascertain the GH from the water supply folks, they may have a website. They might also tell you the pH, but you should have a kit for testing pH as this is an important parameter that can change in a fish tank.

Thank you. Yes, you can mix corys, I already mentioned this when I said you want a minimum of five, and if 2 or more species try to get no less than 3 of each species. They all get along, no issues there, but they are less stressed and thus healthier if they have some of their own species around them.
