Bluegreen, where should I go?

Ugh, just wrote the whole thing out then hit back space.... long day.

Well, long story short, I came back from a 9 day vacation to see lots of algae, then the bluegreen (@#$%)!

I cut the affected areas of the plants out and rinsed the rest, It pops up every few days unually on the tips of hornwart, I had just been cutting it off if I saw any on a plant. It seems the grow fastest/biggest the closer they are to the current from the sump return. Unfortunately im noticing it on a few rocks so Its time to actually face it.

My plants can probably handle a blackout, but I skimmed some alternatives this morning. One i though was interesting (you all probably know of already) involves adding more c02 and nitrates (I think thats right, I read it at 4:30 this morning, so its a little foggy lol).

I would perfer not to kill my good bacteria with chemicals. If anyone has "fought the good fight" with a slightly different method, let me know! Or if anyone just knows of a better and successful plan than the blackout, I'd love to hear it.

I have this to. I have algae control and it works well so that might be a option.

Christople, does it kill off any of the nitrosomonas bacteria?

Id check the fittings between the turbo and the intake for air leaks, that could be the cause of your power loss.











Also, how long has the tank been up. If you have more organic waste in your gravel than the plants can use it can cause a cynobacteria bloom. A light vacuuming of your gravel may help the problem.

Haha, I don't think it had too much of an air leak, it held 55lbs all day long, that being said, I'm sure it was leaking somewhere. : )
