Best filter for a 20 gallon ??

I'm hopefully upgrading soon and i want the best possible setup for a 20 gallon, and i wanted to now the best filter for a 20 gallon. i have read up about a canister filet however i am getting the impression that its for much larger tanks than a 20g. Is it possible to get a canister filter that is right for a 20g or what is my best option ?? sorry about all the questions :D

hehe someones been listning to akon lol. yea i know what you mean im still not sure on the size it looks bigger then a 20 gallon the one i want to buy but i want to do alot of research on it. thanks again.

as a rule of thumb, you cant over filtrate. It only becomes an issue when the current from the outflow(s) of your filter(s) plasters your fish against the far wall of the tank lol

hehe well ill try make sure that doesnt happen, i think ill go with a canister oh and is it better to have 1 or 2 heaters

well, if your heater is too small it will struggle to keep the volume of water in your tank at the correct temp. the temp will fluctuate more, and the heater will be on aLOT shortening its lifespan some, but the biggest issue will be the temp fluctuations. if the thermometer is too big, it will be constantly clicking on and off, and again you will have some monster fluctuations in the temp.

when I buy heaters I buy whats rated for my tank and round up. for example, for my 10 gallon tank a 10 gal heater is fine. for my 30 gallon tank I think its actually a 50 gallon heater. but that too, is a bit subjective. you may see a 100 watt heater rated for upto a 30 gallon tank (im just making up numbers here) but the next 100 watt heater you pick up is rated for up to a 55 gallon tank. so, keep that in mind when youre shopping :) if youre in the ball park youll be fine.

well, i have a 30 gal filter for my 20 gal, and its been working well, so what beetlebz said was right. you cannot overfiltrate, but you can easily underfiltrate. good luck!
