API Test Kit

OK so I broke down and bought the API Fresh Water Test kit today. Been hesitating bc of the money but really want to be on top of this this go round. I've been using the test strips and have been reeking havoc as to whats what. Can I tell you that buying the API test kit was well worth the money?! I'm sure others here know that but I wasn't so sure. In my 20g my readings are:

PH =7.6
Amon = 0ppm
Nitrite = 0ppm
Nitrate = 40ppm

I'm pretty dang close to it running just right if you ask me! I added two amazon swords plants to the tank just yesterday. The test strips really aren't that accurate compared to the API kit. So with that said I'd highly recommend the API kit to anyone who may be on the fence about it! Felt like I was back in science class in high school using the glass test tubes and all! LOL Thanks for this forum and all the great wealth of info here shared from all!

liquid drop API tests are a good test kit, glad you switched from strips.

I agree. One suggestion on the nitrate test: shake Regent #2 for a good 2 minutes before adding the drops. The instructions say 30 seconds but many have found this gives inaccurate results that are higher. I thought of this when I saw your nitrates at 40ppm, they might be lower which would be better.
