advice on right fish...

i have just got a 135ltr tank. set it up today so will have to wait a few weeks b4 i can put in fish. At the mo we have a smaller tank with red tail shark, 2 angles, catfish, 2 kissing fish.( these are all still smallish at the moment and will be going into the new tank) and a few others that will be staying in the small tank. i need help to decide on the right fish to put in my new tank. any suggestions would be great as i am fairly new to all this and want to get it right

by kissing fish do you mean Kissing Gourami? These can grow to 1' long and need a bigger tank then even your 135litre. Redtailed Shark only get to 20cm or so but are fairly active and should be in a larger tank as well. Your angelfish... how long is your new tank? That size(litre wise) is about as small as you'd want to go for angels, but it needs to be a fairly specific size to accomadate the height of angel fish and provide swimming room. What is your catfish? Some stay as small as 3cm many can grow over 100cm long. Having more info or a picture is quite important on that one.

new tank is
Length 53 inch Height 18inch Width 12.5inch.

they are Kissing Gourami. the fish we are keeping in the smaller tank are Guppy's, platys, neons and mollies. the tank they are in is too small it is only a 33 ltr tank.the catfish is a sailfin. i will try and get a pic up.

Hi and welcome to Tropical Fish Keeping forum.

I second what previous members have posted, and would also point out our fish and plant profiles, under the second tab from the left in the blue bar across the top of the page. If the common or scientific name used in the profile is typed in a post it will shade, as you note some of the names did in prior posts; that means you can click the shaded name to pop-up that profile. All the fish you mention are in the profiles, with info on tank sizes, numbers, compatibility and other issues. Example Scalare Angelfish, Kissing Gourami, etc.
