Advice on picking fish

Hello everybody, I have a question; My current tank is a 16 gallon bowfront, i currently have 5 zebra danios, and 2 peppered corys(planning on getting 2 more). My question is, what species could i add to my tank to make some color, (rets,etc). I was thinking of Cardinal Tetra, but i do not know if i want to go that route or not due to their sensitivity, i also thought of guppies, but i am debating that as they reproduce so easily. I really don't know what i should add to this tank, i would like to make it more colorful, right now it seems so dull and unlively. I really could use some colors. What do you guys think?


On a sidenote,what can be done to stop a danio from being bullied by its own kind, it is pushed into this one corner of the tank, then left there, if it moves out of it, they chase it back, any ideas?\

Why not get all male guppies? Those are the most colorful guppies anyway. I'm thinking of re-stocking my 45 gallon with them.

No clue about the danio. Can you put a few hiding spots in the tank (more plants etc...) so he can escape when necessary?

Would guppies put more load on the tank tho? I mean, would 4 Peppered corys, 5 Zebra Danio, and 5 male guppies, be too much? And would the guppies be aggressive towards each other, with no females? Just wondering.

Someone told me that the Zebra that is being bullied is the weakest in the group, and that the only way to solve the problem is to move him to another tank or give him away, I have no way of doing either of those, so any suggestions? Maybe i'll try the hiding stuff.

removing the one danio wouldn't change much or in fact make it worse.If they pick on the weakest one,taking that one out would mean they would then pick on the next weakest one.Most people recomend 6 or more danio's per group,try getting one or 2 more danio's first to see if that solves the problem and then see what extra fish you can stock after that.

About the all male guppies, I have 4 in a 5G right now and they're doing fine.

What's your PH? if it's over 7 I'd go with the guppies (Or all male platies, swordtails, or mollies even. For REAL color I'd go with endlers, which are a distant Guppy relative. THEY are colorful. :))
If it's under 7 you could try any of the tetras. Maybe Ember tetras if they won't get eaten by the Danios. Embers are small yellow schooling fish. Cute, if I say so myself. Will be putting embers in my 5G soon (to replace the guppies)

Ok, well, i guess guppies are out of the question for me, as my Ph is more like 6.6. So i guess i will go with some tetras, i guess i will just go back to planning on getting cardinal tetras because i still find them amazing. I was hoping to not have to add more zebras to the tank, but i guess i could add another, maybe it will save that one from the constant annoyance. So i now plan on making my tank as follows.
4 x Peppered Cory (Corydoras paleatus)
6 x Longfin Zebra Danio (Danio rerio)
5 x Cardinal Tetra (Paracheirodon axelrodi)(maybe)

Would that be overstock? Using a stocking calculator, it puts my tank right on the safe line.

White Clouds, head and tail lights, serpae tetras, harlequin - there's a number of fish you could use. If you keep only small fish, really recommended in a small tank four results occur:

1) the tank looks bigger as smaller fish make a tank look larger
2) the tank doesn't look crowded
3) your "bioload" is smaller
4) you have healthier fish so less "crowding"

I'd recommend neons rather than cardinal tetras as the cardinals do better at higher temperatures. The neons would be fine at the same temperatures the danios and cories prefer. Any other mid-level, small tetra or rasbora should be fine. Just pick whatever's colorful, avoid anything nippy and keep an eye on the water conditions the fish you're picking prefer.
