ADF Feeding?

Hey guys.

I have an ADF, and I am worried about it. When I got it, I looked for ADF food, and Petsmart didn't have it. I read somewhere on the internet (not here!) that ADFs can be fed algae wafers. Afew days ago I realized that ADFs are carnivors. Thank goodness I have only had the frog about a week or 2, hopefully not long enough to do any extended lack of protein and calcium damage.

I am trying to sink cubed Tubifex worms right now, but the cude will not sink. I really need to get it some ADF/ACF food as soon as I can, but I can't find it anywhere! I am going to make a run to Petsmart later today. I need to know, will sinking Cichlid Pelets help while I search the world over to find a good sinking ADF/ACF pellet? I know that Cichlid food is fomulated to have a high protein diet. Would there be any harm in feeding the ADF some sinking Cichlid Pellets?

Another good question is, does anyone know where I can get some ADF/ACF food?? I really need to get some because I doubt that Cichlid food has the calcium levels ADFs need.

You could try bloodworms. I never had luck with ADF's

I can't get those to sink, either. Does anyone know a trick to make stuff sink?

I used to hold the bloodworms with tweezers in front of the frog and it would take the food from the tweezers.

Yeah, that is what I am going to have to do. I am ordering tweezers from a good site called josh's frogs. They have a good reputation, and they are a reliable frog dealer. I am ordering padded tweezers, so that I can feed my Pacman frog with them also. Pacman frogs tend to lunge at their food, so they need padded tweezers to avoid risk or serious injury.

Frogs tend to be quite movement orientated. I've never had any luck with ADF and non-moving food. I use frozen bloodworms and a pippet.

That is an awesome idea! Never thought of using a pippet.

I know all too well that frogs are move oriented. Not to be off topic or anything, but this is a picture of my Pacman frog staring down a cricket. It was staring that cricket down so long, I stopped filming, took a picture, and then started filming again, and you can't tell anything had happened between the 2 videos LOL. It will wait 5 minutes watching a cricket until it moves and then BANG and the cricket is gone (except for the legs hanging out of the frog's mouth.

From what I have heard, ADF are partially blind, and they use smell for their main sense in hunting. Even in my short, personal experience with these great frogs, I have seen the ADF locate a still algae wafer and drag it away. I have heard stories in many accounts of people dropping in still food, and later it being gone. I do agree that ADF are best fed by moving food, but ReptoMin for Frogs is formulated for ADF and ACF, and is a very important part of a frog's diet.

I feed my frogs frozen bllodworms with a turkey baster. I soak the bloodworms in tank water for a few minutes so they'll thaw and sink, and then I just squirt them right in front of the frogs faces. Works great
