adding more gravel to fully stocked tank?

hi all, I have had my Goldfish for about 9 months now and all is well so far...

but when i started the tank i didn't really put enough gravel in to allow for planting and cant really anchor anything down to the floor of the tank.
can i add more gravel easily?
Will i need to empty out the tank to do this? or can i just gently drop cup fulls of washed gravel into the tank? I don't want to harm my fish doing so, and yet i don't really want to drain my tank out either.

Add the gravel by the cupful as you suggest, ensuring you wash it well first. You answered your own question dude. :D

i would just wash it, throw it in, make sure it doesnt bury anyone and then spread it out.

are you going to be adding live plants or plastic ones?
If you are adding plastic plants and have thin gravel level tis is what i did,
I found some suction cups and removed the crapy plastic base on plastic plants and drilled small holes in the top of the suction cups and used them to hold the plants to the floor of the tank.Works really well cause they are held really tight and i don't have to worry about bumping them with the gravel vac and dislodging them..

that is a good idea marty, i do use those suckers to hold pipes and wires out of the way at the moment, i only have one fake plant at the mo, the rest are just simple elodea. i will try it out
