1 Oscar, 1 Firemouth, 1 convict, i Striped Raphael Catfish, 4 silver dollars. how does that sound?

Single Oscar alone in a 75g is pushing it as they get large and need the room of a 6ft tank.

They are also too aggressive for Silver Dollar and will likely eat them.

Convict will work and the Firemouth is touch and go..

Im pretty sure oscars and silver dollars are compatible and 55 gallons is the minimum for one Oscar.

Oscars need a 75g for one fish alone.

As long as the tank is fairly well planted and the Silver Dollar are at least bigger or the same size as the Oscar when added to the tank then yes it CAN sometimes work. Silver Dollar will need places to hide once the Oscar gets bigger than them.

Oscars get to be 12-14 inches long... That's a lot of fish and needs a lot of room. Also very territorial

Firemouth is also very territorial.

Convict is extremely territorial as well.

Striped Raphael wouldnt be worth the bio room it would take up in a tank like this. You would probably need to see it if it has a hiding place, if it doesn't it will be severally stressed.

If you are heart set on the Oscar you should pick that and something else MAX (this is pushing it and tbh an Oscar should be alone in a 75). Depending on what you pick you might be able to get more.

For example you can do an Oscar and one other medium sized cichlid (Firemouth/convict) and be pushing it... Or you could probably get by with an Oscar, a school of top water dwellers (wont swim in the same tank space is nice too to fill up space and no territory issues) and a cleaning crew and get by with it.

All of this is assuming your cichlid (if you pick one) is tolerate of other fish and you have enough filtration to cover it.

a 14 inch Oscar would barely be able to turn around in a 11.5 inch wide 55, assuming it could at all.

That is not a good mix at all, cichlid-wise. The Convict is highly aggressive, as is the Green Terror; these cannot be together unless it is a very large tank. The Firemouth being rather shy for a cichlid should not be combined with such "terrors" (literally)--have a read of our profile. A group of Firemouth would be nice, with some peaceful and "robust" tankmates (non-cichlids) in a 75g.

so you can keep an Oscar with a convict but not a green terror with a convict? because anywhere you look you will see that that is a common stocking choice.

Oscars are considered aggressive cichlids, but if you compare them to other aggressive cichlids they really arent very aggressive. Green terrors, red devils, those type of cichlids have earned their names for a reason. Even a convict (about 5 inch max) can kill an Oscar (12-14 inch max). Also in a 75 it is still not recommended to do an Oscar + anything. You can get by with it but it takes a lot of filtration, lot of heavy decor, and young fish to start with.
