55 gallon goldfish aquarium help

I have been trying to figure out how to creat my own post on this site obviously without success. First can any one tell me how to do that. Second, While im here, can anyone tell me why my fish tank will not stay clear. Its 55 gal has 3 Goldfish in it, no plant life, and up until about 2 weeks ago had been clear as glass for over 5 months. I have cleaned it now 4 or 5 times. The first time was good no problem. The second was fine but after three or 4 days started getting nasty. The next 3 good for a day tops. Now its just this nasty green color. Any thoughts?

First, are these regular comets or fancy Goldfish?
I am guessing that as your fish are growing, they are producing too much nitrate, which causes the algae growth.
What sort of filtration are you running?

I agree with Olympia. It sounds like an algae or bacterial bloom. Are you vacuuming the gravel when you clean the tank? Are you cleaning the filters when you clean the tank?

I take the rocks out completly and rinse them through a collinder when I clean the tank, which is about every 2 weeks. I have two aqua tech 20-40 gallon filters. I change the filters every time I clean the tank as well as clean the filter body itself. I have one fancy a comet and a huge gold fish i won at the fair. He is probably 7-8 inches long. They have been in the 55 gallon tank together for over 3 or 4 months and up until about a week or two ago it was always clear. The glass would get algea on it but the water would still be clear. I bought one of the sucker fish but it "misteriously disappeared" I have changed the water completely twice in the last week and it will stay clear for maybe a day. Someone suggested turning my lights out. That didnt, or up until this point, work. Any thoughts?
