Hello. I have a 2 gallon tank holding my betta fish. I also have a 20 gallon tank holding 3 swordtails(1 female 2 males and I know the rule but my other females have died recently) and 5 danios(3 zebras 2 longfin). Although I like both tank very much I want to use the 2 gallon tank for something else. I was wondering if I could put a divider of sorts in the 20 gallon tank(10" for the betta and 20" for the rest)... Good idea? I would get a net type divider btw.
As long as the net is above the water line, I'm not betta expert but I doubt they are a fish that jumps out of the water readily. If your worried about this then go buy a hood for your tank so there is no room, you might see him flare at the swordtails occasionally through the net but this is natural for bettas and probably a healthy activity for them as long as they are not always in a fighting stance. Or you can go find a colored plastic divider so they can't see through.
