15 U.S gallon stocking help!!!!!i am new so please post!!

i have everything in need (filter, heater etc.) and i have completed cycling

i have 2 choices in which i liked (i have 5 fake plants (sorry) and 3 decorations)

choice #1

7 zebra danios( already have 4)
7 panda cories

(tell me if this would be over stocked)

choice#2
6 zebra danios
4 gowlight tetras
4 panda cories

i am a begginner

substrate is smooth gravel

temp around 77 F adn ph around 7.3

2nd one i think is overstocked


plan on doing 25% water changes 2-3 times a week and 2 big water change (greater then 50%) per month



please tell me which is the best one and suggest any others you think will be good!!
please i need an answer asap!!

i think 1 of the zebra danios died and my water parameters are good

Welcome to Tropical Fish Keeping forum.

You are correct, tank #2 is overstocked. But due to the needs of the fish, more than sheer numbers. Zebra Danio are active swimmers and they need space to swim. A 15g provides some length, but a group of zebras (6+) is going to be it, along with a group of corys, that's fine.

I would say OK with 6 or 7 zebra. I would reduce the Corydoras panda to 5. In a 15g this will work. Live plants really would improve things for the fish, though. Something to consider seriously.

We have fish profiles here, second tab from the left in the blue bar at the top, or click on the shaded name of the fish in posts to see that profile. Have a look at what they say for these fish, all are included in the profiles.

isn't doing 2-3 water changes a week a lot? I do one a week but my tank is also bigger, Am I the only one that thinks this or did I read it wrong

I was going to say pretty much what Byron said. I think a tank like this with just the Zebras could be really great actually. They're very active, wonderful little fish.

I'd also agree that planting the tank, even lightly would be a good idea.

Three water changes a week is probably more than necessary unless they're pretty small. I tend to do one 50% per week myself, though this is personal preference to a degree. You'll probably be fine doing 2 small ones (5g each).

I agree with this. When I had a non-planted tank, I did a 20% water change once a week and it was plenty to keep nitrate levels low. I don't think 3 water changes per week will be necessary.
