I'm not looking forward to 3 buckets a week on the 55. I've seen people talk about a python for water changes. So my questions are on the python for water changes.
I thought I read a few times that people are adding the water conditioner to the tank in the amount for the water change before adding water. Is this the correct process? It would make sense to not add it after as the chlorine would harm the fish. Yes, add the conditioner to the tank just before you refill. Some people add it as they are refilling and I have done it this way before with no problems.
How to you get the water to the tank temperature with the python. Adjust the sink to the right temperature out of the tap then turn on the water flow to the tank? Yes, adjust it at the sink. I also will fill a 5 gallon bucket about half way with the Python to double check the temp before filling the tank and then I use that water (with conditioner added) to clean my filter cartridges as the tank is refilling.
Anything obvious I'm overlooking or have tips.
My wife broke the gravel vac and I'm looking to replace it might go with a python like device for the future. | I added my answers in red above.
You will not regret getting a Python (or similar). It makes water changes sooo much easier on bigger tanks |
