No matter how I've tried to rig the intake, no matter how much padding I've put on it, this BRAND NEW (6 days old) tetra whisper filter is loud as sin. You can literally hear it four rooms away down a hall, about 50 feet away in the house through three solid walls. It's in my second living room, on the farthest wall from the master bedroom. With the ceiling fan and the door closed in the master bedroom, you can still faintly hear it. I'm going insane. I spent 40 dollars on it, and I'm about to throw it out the window.
Anyone else had this experience before? To be frank - did I just buy a really bad filter? Or should I investigate the warranty (2 years) and request a replacement? This can't be working properly.
The diagram might have broke, occasionally they do have manufacturing issues, I've heard of other people calling the support line and they should send out a fix kit for free.
If you just bought it I wouldn't even bother to call I'd take it back for a replacement. My tetra whispers are no where near that loud though they don't seem to last very long for me. Normally older air pumps get loud as suggested above they can be fixed but usually it's only a few dollars more to just buy a new one.
Indeed, I like Aqueon. AquaClear is great too. I would just return it (with all the pieces, filter included in a baggy if its wet), you shouldn't have a problem.
