yeah most aquarists tend to stay away from changing ph using chemicals, if you want a different ph you will need to start using distilled with trace elements and proper buffering which costs a lot of money but is the safest way.
a ph of nothing is hydrochloric acid by the way, i dont think the tap water filter does that...
It must make it a neutral 7, which would be "water". I think battery acid has a pH of something like 2 or 3. Can you imagine??
