Hello! Just bought a marine land stealth pro 50 watt heater, and I noticed its not heating my 12 gallon tank properly. Plus I did some searching and heard quite a few horror stories on the stealth pro *albeit for the 100+ watt ones* I was wondering if this heater is defective and I should get a new one *if so, any suggestions for good brands?* or if I should just be patient and wait for the temperature to fully cycle up.
Example; I set my heater to go up to 78 degrees, it only heats up to 72/73 degrees and turns off. Right now I cranked it up to 82 degrees, and its slowly inching up to 76 degrees. Thanks for the help!

You can't really go by the dial on the heater, as far as the Stealth is concerned. You also need to have a thermometer in the tank. I assume you do?? I keep most of all my tanks at 78 and for some of the heaters that's a setting of 75 on the dial, on another heater it's 82 on the dial of the heater. The dial on the heater is just a gauge, you need a thermometer to know what the EXACT temp the water is. HTH
