silk plants

I am considering adding silk plants to my tank,, my one concern is that the bases for the plants look cheezy,, does anyone have any ideas as to how i can change/replace/hide the bases as to look much more realistic?

I just cover my plant bases with the aquarium gravel already on the bottom of the tank.

As a relatively new aquarium dude, I've been toying with different types of cover for my 55 gallon tank. I tried live plants, but they turned my water a different color and cleaning the tank was more of a pain. The fake plants with veins running trough the leef look great and are much easier to deal with, and I think it's silk.

The bases are meant to be under the gravel.

I just bought some that have brown ceramic bases so they're weighted down and don't show well, but I still bury them.

I pulled the basses off mine and replaced them with big suction cups. They wont move at all even when doing a gravel vac and the suction cups are much easier to cover than the plastic bases. One reason i went to suction cups is we keep our gravel thin making it much easier to clean..

That idea would work really good for a tank with a bunch of oscars too! Great idea!

Yea it works great..

I found the suction cups at one of those stores that sell a bunch of the (everything in this isle is a $1.00 store) dollar tree etc...They were on these things you put in your bathroom that hold toothbrushes, razors, dixie cups and things, they the suction cups on them so you can stick them to your bathroom mirror or i guess perhaps in the shower.I just took the cups and drilled small holes in the top and forced the bottom plant stems in them.Just be sure not to drill all way through the suction cup or it will not stick as it will leak off its suction...
