Won't crushed coral dramatically affect pH?

Ask the following question on google and you will see that crushed coral will raise pH which may or may not be a good thing: "will crushed coral change the pH in aquarium"

Why not just use 'play' or 'pool' sand ?

I did not know you wanted to be so technical. I was kidding when I said I was going to crush coral and turn it into sand. I was merely saying I was going to use my engineering degree to create a simple stand, that is all.
