Quietest filter option?

I currently have a 46 gallon tank running two topfin whisper 60 filters. They are alot louder than I would like. Even with only one running its pretty loud. Can someone suggest a filter that would have enough power for my tank and that is as quiet as possible. Thanks

Aquarium
I have a Penguin 350 biowheel and a Whisper 60 on my 55 gallon and the Penguin is so much quieter than the Whisper filter. The Whisper filter has a sort of hum to it. The only noise the Penguin makes is the sound of the water.

150 Gallon - Mostly American Cichlids
135 Gallon - Angelfish Community
75 Gallon - Odd couple (Polleni/Angelfish)
55 Gallon - African tank
20 Gallon Long - QT
10 Gallon - Empty

I can't sleep unless I can hear the humming of the filters and the water.

The most important medication in your fish medicine cabinet is.. Clean water.

My whisper makes such an annoying humm, its even worse than the dehumidifier(and that's loud!) So I wrapped it in a towel, and it still makes a humm, but not as bad. I also have Classical Music and Brain Age2 to distract me from it.

<--Hehe, that's my puppy, Charlie, before he turned moose. He was attacking his teddy-bear, whom I called Mr.Snuggles, with one true possessed look on his face. Many days later, he ate Mr. Snuggles. RIP Snugg Snugg!

P.S. that's my grandpa's knee in the upper right corner.

All of my Marineland filters run dead silent so long as the water levels are high enough. I have a few Tetra filters that are a bit noisier. The most silent filter of all, though, is the Fluval canister.

Actually that's the proviso. If you keep your water level up its silent, let the water level drop and it sounds just like what it is, a waterfall.

-1 on the penguin, mine always makes a trickleing noise no matter how full the tank is or how new the filters are. I might try a good quality canister, that way evin if its a tad noisey it can go in the cabnent below.

My favorite filter, other than canisters, are AquaClears. I like the wide water path and the 110 is like a waterfall. I do not like biowheels at all. The AC never needs media replacement, either, unless you want to replace the sponge every few years. You just squeezed it out in old tank water, run some water over the bio cubes and you're good to go for another couple months.
