Python cleaning and filling from faucet?

How do you put the Prime in to nullify the chlorine using this method? Do you treat the whole tank and put in enough for say 30g? Or just enough to clean the 10% or 25% or whatever you fill back in?

Personally (and I look forward to further responses) I treat my larger tanks (29 & 55g) at the tank levels and treat my smaller tanks (10g or less) at the water change levels. I do a 25% (sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less) water change weekly.

Hope this helps,

So, for the 29 and 55 every time you put any new water in at all you put in a dose of Prime (or whatever you use) to cover the full 29 or 55g? For prime it would be two drops per gallon, 58 or 110 drops?

EDIT: I guess if I got that right, my question would be can you overdose Prime or any Water conditioner?

I go just a little less than recommended for the tank size. I'm sure you can OD on chems, but my tap here in TX can be a little strong so I think it all balances out in my case. I'm back to using Amquel and Stress Coat. Just keep an eye on your water parameters before and after changes and you will find the balance. A little extra usually doesn't hurt, not enough usually does.

Hope this helps,

I only add treatment to my 100 and 60 gallon because they both have sensitive fish in them. With my 450 i only treat if i do more than a 250 gallon change and if so i don't treat more than 100 gallons of it. If i take 50 gallons from the 100 i add 30 ml of stress coat (1ml per gallon) to the incoming stream after about 10-15 gallons have already gone in the tank. I really don't think treating the full return amount or the whole tank is needed.
