Pre-filter for BioWheel

Does anyone know if Petsmart of Petco or somewhere online if that carries a sponge that can be used as a prefilter on a Ehiem canister (Ecco) intake tube? I would order one online, but I need it fast. However, if the LFS's do not carry them I will have to order online. I guess I could call Petsmart and Petco. I am cycling with fish food and I don't want so much waste to get in my filter so quick. Thanks!

I can't recall having seen them at either Petsmart or Petco (here anyway) but just call around your area and ask them but online here Eheim Pre-Filter Module, Canister Filters | Pet Solutions

Hi, thanks. I saw that last night when I was looking online but I could not figure out how that would connect to the intake. ?? I have seen people use sponges that they put on the slitted intake section. I will have to look into it.

Now that I read it again, it appears that it replaces the other intake tube that is wider and connects to the hose. ?? I wonder if it affect the GPM.

Oh how to I best explain that now...You know how the Eheim intake comes down into you tank and has the lil plastic-net thing on the bottom of it?
Take the plastic net thing off.
The prefilter has another plastic tube on it that's slightly bigger then the intake and slide right over your intake pipe.

You know kinda like the intake pipe fits into the hose, kinda like that...

I'm not good in explaining that kinda stuff....sorry...does this make ANY sense to you?

Angel that prefilter doesnt come with the ecco, but im pretty sure you can buy one that will fit the ecco. The picture said 1000 words!

Frankly, I love my ecco. I take it apart MAYBE twice a year. rinse the sponges in tank water and scrub the fine pads really good. the thing still moves some serious water despite its relatively low flow :)

I didn't say it came WITH it....Holly was looking for a extra part, I send here the link where to get accessories

I have had the 2213 model for YEARS now, love it too, I generally maintain it 1x year, very rear cases 2x year, I just love Eheim filters period, good quality, lasts forever and its quiet and you can always get extra parts.

I was muddling this over and trying to figure out if I want to get the official pre-filter for the Eheim. BTW, I just noticed I put "Bio-Wheel" in my thread title. Don't know what I was thinking. Must have had Bio-wheel on the brain.

Anyway, I am not sure if I want something on the surface of the gravel getting in the way. I wish I knew of a sponge that can fit over the intake like they have for the reverse flow powerheads. I did see some different sponges on that site as well but not sure what would fit it right. I could call them and have them suggest something. I think I would rather have a simple sponge attached.

P.S. Now that I think of it, I would not mind having one on my bio-wheel in my daughter's 14 gallon as well.
