I am working on getting rid of some of the gunk and detritus. I am also keeping an eye open for the re-appearance of 'ye ancient mariners' vacuum gravel machine. Supposed to be available sometime later this year, but the release date has been being pushed back for some time now.

There is a technical term for the gunk that builds up, but I forget what it is. It can lead to high nitrates, which is what I was looking into a polishing filter. I am ordering a vortex diatem filter and see how that works out. I am planning on using it when I scrub off the algae. I figure if I run it while scrubbing, it will get a good number of them out.
