Penn Pax small world filter question

Hi!! Today I redone my 2 gallon hex and remove the undergravel filter and installed the small world filter and now I'm doing a fishless cycle with it. Now I'm having a problem putting in the valve into the tube because the filter is a little nose and I was wondering does anyone know how to put the valve thing in? I try putting it in every hole, but it wouldn't go in.. Please help!!!!!!! And I need help on doing this fishless cycle with the pure ammonia I just bought.
