Yes I agree, I think the type of lamps are really more geared for a saltwater aquarium. In particular the True Actinic 03, allthough I read on the weblink in the post from unrulyevil that it helps with the photosynthesis. Quote: |
Actinic lights are available also. These lamps emit a UV spectrum of light (ie. 420nm, 460nm) that is beneficial to the process of photosynthesis. There is large debate in the aquarium community about which tank applications are best suited for the use of these bulbs. | I am thinking about tuning it down a bit though, I still think the Actinic light is too bright and really flushes out the colors of the plants.

The spectrum had the 611 nm (orange-red) and weaker orange and red lines of triphosphor red, the 542 nm narrow band of triphosphor green, and a broad band in the green and blue (mostly 415 to 540 nm) like that of an ordinary blue fluorescent lamp.
