New 140 gal. aquarium

Hi,

Not new to goldfish, but to large tanks. I'm planning a 140 gal goldfish tank, lots of adequate plants. Assuming budget is not a restraint, which equipment do you suggest for my new 9 goldfish tank?

As of today I'm thinking about the following setup.

1. Eheim 3e Pro 2078 (Only sponge and bio-max or eheim substrat)
2. Aquaclear Powerhead 110 (901)
3. A couple of 120 cm fluorescent

Do you think this canister filter will be ok? I was thinking about the Fluval FX5 due to its large volume per hour, but imho it doesn't really have enough media for my waste factories (goldifsh).

Any thoughts will be really appreciated.

Regards

You should definitely look into using a system like herefishy describes in this post: http://www.fishforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=17432 Don't know what your budget is but this is probably the best way of doing things.

Hi,

Thanks for the answer flashygrrl. I've heard some great comments about the Eheim Pro 3e 2078, and this is the external filtration method I will go.

Never been familiar to ugf filters. Just a newbie question here, must the ugv filter be the exact size of the tank, or it can be a little undersized? My new aquarium dimensions are 63L x 24D x 24 H, and the Perfecto largest ugf that should fit is 48L x 24D.

Regards

Hi herefishy

Thanks for the reply, but there are not such size in Perfecto

There is only a 30x12. Should I buy 4 of these?

By the way, how many powerheads per ugv filter?

Hi,

I've found a 72x24 Perfecto ugf. May I cut this to fit my 60x24?
