Need input on Rena FilStar xP3 Canister Filter

I would any like any input an a Rena FilStar xP3 Canister Filter. I am going to put it on a 55 gal FW. Are they quiet? What are the manufacturers recomendations on distance that they can be set below the aquarium? I would like to run the hoses up from the basement to simplify maintenance. Does anyone else do those kind of set up? Thanks, Diane

Well I bought one of these filters. So far, I think I made a wise choice wth this purchase. Very good water flow and it is as quiet as a mouse. Don't even know that it is there.

i dont believe running the hoses from the basement would be wise. the tubes that come with it are only 7 feet long . and the maximum distance below tank is 55" or just short of six feet.

I have the XP2 and love it. Now that I have the bigger tank, I wish I had the XP3 but the 2 does the job. It's very quiet as mine since beside my seat on the couch and it's not in a cabinet. It would make me crazy if it gave off any noise but it really doesn't at all. I've had it for about 2 years now and have no complains. It's very easy to clean and self priming.

rena xp series filter are extremely quiet. You don't even know that its on until you take a closer look at it. The filters are so powerful that if you stirred up all the debris in the tank, it only take 5mins to clear them all up.

Wanna know more about fish keeping?
Check it out.

You are so right westpoison. I did some live plantings and the Husband wanted to know how the water cleared so fast!!! :D Could not put the lines through the floor though because of man. rec. Did not need to. What a dream of a machine!!
