i just got home and noticed i had a thin layer of foam sitting on top of the water in my tank and my filter is gettin louder. The filter is about a month old. Anyone got any idea's on what has happened?

i would clean out the impeller assembly real good (edit: don't use soap! use cold water), and make sure the water level is high enough. also sometimes i have to pour some water directly into my power filter to get it started, they have trouble pulling up water sometimes.

p.s. if that's the tank in question in your picture, and the water is still at that level, I would say that your water level isn't high enough

As high as you can manage. I fill my tanks until there's only a few millimeters between the bottom of the lid support lip and the to of the water. In terms of your filter a low water level will make it work harder to pull the water up out of the tank and it'll make more noise. Also the farther the water falls to return to the tank the more noise it makes.
