My advice reguarding Hydor Heaters

Never buy a Hydor heater. They are garbage!
Mine, after 5 of 6 months of use just suddenly stopped working for no reason. I went online and researched the problem and it turns out I got lucky.
Apparently Hydor is infamous of getting 'stuck' and frying people's fish! The sensor breaks and just keeps heating the water into the mid/upper 90s!

Has anyone else had a bad experience with Hydor or another brand?

Its because most don't look into the brands, they just see a cheap heater at a store and buy it. If they don't offer any kind of warranty then they don't really worry about you coming after a replacement. Its not as uncommon as it should be.

I have five of these heater's(Hydor's) that have been in operation for around six year's now without any problem's.
Have been thinking of replacing them for they are getting older and will prolly go with Visi-therm.
I have four of the Visi-therm's which are much older.
Funny,,when I purchased the Hydor's some year's back,,they came with lifetime gaurantee.
I no longer see this gaurantee being offered in ad's for the Hydor.
I did have temp's in Discus tank with Hydor's climb to 90 degree's from 84 degree's one year, but it was largely due to me forgetting to dial back the temp from winter ,to summer.
