when moving fish from quarentine tank to put in main tank . what is best & safest way to move them? put in bags & float them or just net one tank to other tank? any input greatly apreacated.
I always acclimate fish and never transfer water...
If I purchase fish in a bag, I'll transfer fish and water to a (dedicated) bucket. If from another tank, I'll siphon water into the bucket, then net the fish.
I'll put the bucket under the target tank and create a siphon with a long enough piece of air line tubing. I'll use clothes pin or whatever to secure the tubing.
This method ensures stable temperature and water chemistry.
After an appropriate interval and water transfer, I'll net the fish and put in the tank.
It takes a bit longer, but more gradually lets the fish get accustomed to the target water AND does not transfer any of the 'foreign' water.
