Mini Tank Heater...

I recently bought a mini tank heater for tanks/aquariums of 2-10 gallons. I have a betta who is in a 2 gallon bowl-he's very healthy..swims quickly, eats fast, seems to be very curious. But I was having issues with water temperature, so I bought this mini heater to raise the temperature by a few degrees.

The heater raises the temperature very slowly, and not by too much- only about 3-5 degrees. The only concern I have is with keeping it on for a long time- even overnight, which i have not done. I've only used it for a couple days now, and only for maybe a couple hours at a time. I don't want my fish to experience fluctuating temperatures, but also, I don't want the bowl to overheat if the heater's left on.

Does anyone know if it's safe to keep a mini heater on overnight? If not, any suggestions on keeping a 2 gallon bowl warm enough?

It is definitely safe for one to keep the heater on 24/7. The heater should be kept on all the time, as turning it off is what will cause the fluctuating temperatures, not keeping it on. Your Betta will be much happier with it on all the time, 100% moneyback guarantee .

The heater should be pre-set, so it only goes on when it needs to.

The mini heater I have has no heat settings, you only plug it in... that's why I was concerned. Is it still safe to keep it on all day long?

hi
do you know the make of the heater ?
the "junior heater" small aquarium heater for 2-5 gllns
is i think ment to be used in conjuntion with a thermostate,
i bought two without realising this,it's a 7.5 watt.
it says on the packet that if the water reaches 82f 28c then turn it off,
unless a thermostate is used. :(

Yes, brand would help...most are preset to 78 but there's a few oddballs that for some reason still remain on the market.

I have Hydor (brand) mini aquarium heater...it is 7.5 Watts. I bought it from Petco, here is some information about it: http://www.petco.com/product/102429/...um-Heater.aspx

Does anyone know if it can safely be used overnight?

I just read the directions on this thing and it said to unplug the heater if the room temp reached over 76 degrees...so, I'd just keep it plugged in if you don't live somewhere hot, and monitor the temp CLOSELY for the next few days. Once you know how reliable it is you'll be able to leave it be more.

Thanks, i'll make sure to do that. The room temperature is generally between 70-72, especially at night, so I'll keep the heater on and closely monitor the temperature. Thanks again!
