The biggest problem with the Magnum 350 is that it is a 20 year old canister design that has not really been significantly upgraded since it went on the market. It will do the job, but I have know people to complain that it requires a lot of cleaning to continue functioning at full capacity. Personally I would buy one of the other canisters on the market if I was looking for a canister, but there are many people who swear by the magnum 350.
Good point!!! They have not changed in a long time other than the Bio Wheel!! I have used them in the past but would much rather spend a few more bucks for an EHIEM!!
I got the magnum 350 as a birthday present cause it was on sell. I've had it for about a month now and I haven't had any problems and I can't even hear it running. Iam just wondering how many people use carbon with there canister filters and if they don't use carbon what they use instead. Aslo if it is alright using it with tiger oscars and if it will have any effect on them at all Posted via Mobile Device
I don't know what size the carbon compartment is on a Magnum, but you could probably find a Biomax Bag size that would fit it. Biomax is the biomedia for Aquaclear filters, I have used it on other filters that I have many time because it is readily available near me.
I will look into that. Iam pretty sure I've seen them before. Posted via Mobile Device
