Lighting Question

Hi I posted this yesterday night, but I don't think many people were on. I was wondering if you could use a 'commercial' (?) strip light , like the ones from Home Depot, for your aquarium. I have a glass top so there would be minimal splashing. I just think it would save a lot of money. I have a top wooden hood, so it doesn't matter what the light looks like.. My tank will be very lightly planted...

Thanks again, sorry for posting the same question twice...

Are you planning on a planted tank? I've heard of people using table lamps with their fish tanks without issues.
