Left heater on changing water. Think it broke?

Title says it all. Accidently left my heater on for maybe 30-45 minutes.

In case anyone is interested. It happened because I thought it was connected to the extension cord. And I told my dad to unplug the extension cord. Apparently only the filter is connected to the extension cord. So do'h left the heater on... (I had the siphon in my hand so asked dad to do it)...

Anyways, I went to plug it in since the water level had risen enough to turn it on, when I realized it was plugged in the whole time. I was adding gravel to my 44g so it was left unsubmerged for even longer.

Idk what happens to the heater when you do this. :/ Any help what I should do? I hope not to have to buy a new one....

What brand of heater is it? I know my Marineland Stealth heater has an auto shut off in case the water level drops below the heater.

I had the same problem with my marineland visi-therm(not the stealth) heater a while ago. I was doing a huge pwc, it was accidently left on...it started to smell like smoke....it works, but I didn't feel comfortable leaving them in there, so I swapped it out and used a spare I had and ordered two new ones.(stealth)

Well it doesn't smell or anything. It's turning on and off ok... what else could be broken? Could it accidently stay on or off too much? It was a cheap heater that came in a fish tank kit so i doubt it's that nice. ): I'll go find the name of the brand if I can and get back in a bit.

Sorry I can't find the brand name on it. It was pretty cheap though just one that came with a kit. It seems to work ok atm... I'll keep an eye on it....
