Is kitchen foil ok for this

Hi all,

ive just finished of building my own water holding area due to porblems with water in my area, in order for me to get a acurate reading of water in the 100 ltr drum ive built 2 water sensors

these are now fully working, but if i was to put some strips of kitchen foil, which acts as the sensor, would this cause any problems with the quality of the water, only ask because I cant seem to find anything related to this as im not sure if kitchen foil will oxidise and cause problems when 1.5v is added?

does anyone have any ideas on this, would it be safe or would it leech into the water adding more problems?, if need be the foil strips can be changed every month to help releive this

Many thanks to everyone who shares there views

I suspect you won't get many answers to your question as by and large, hobbyists don't keep tin foil in their aquarium. However, I can't see what would leach off the tin foil. I believe there is aluminum in tin foil.

Here's one response I found in another forum:

I made an aluminum hood for my small tank, condensation has made the underside black, I have read that aluminum can have a bad effect on fish; however the tank has been running for a long time with no ill effects. Has anyone had bad experiences with aluminum?

From Wiki:

Aluminium foil is aluminium prepared in thin metal leafs, with a thickness less than 0.2 mm (0.008 in), although much thinner gauges down to 0.006 mm are commonly used.[1] Foils are commonly gauged in mils. The foil is extremely pliable, and can be bent or wrapped around objects with ease. However, thin foils are fragile and easily damaged, and are often laminated to other materials such as plastics or paper to make them more useful. It replaced tin foil in the mid 20th century.
