Im new at this, and have some tank questions....

I bought a used 29 gallon tank setup that at one time came as a kit from wal-mart. Will the heater and filter that came with it be good enough or should I upgrade? Also im buying a 75 gallon tank by itself brand new. I need to know whats some good HOB filters and a good heater to buy? If it helps they are going to be freshwater community tanks, or maybe put some discus in the 29 gallon? Im new at this so please bare with me...

For the 29, if it is an aquaview filter IMHO, they suck big time. The heater should be fine but could be better.

Visotherm heaters are some of the better ones in medium price range. Aqua clear HOB are what I use. For the 29 I would get a 50 gallon rated one, I think that is the AC30, and for the 75 I would get one rated for 100 gallons, I think the AC50. Just so many more ways to customize them. If you have the money, I would go with a canister for the 75. I have never used them myself but Hagen is often recommended.
